The Mad Mage of the Mechanical Nightmare
CONTROLS: Arrow keys to move + navigate, Z (pc)/A (gb) = Interact, Enter = Start
If you're playing on desktop, there should be a fullscreen button in the bottom-right corner of the display window.
The people of Arkham are suffering from a horrific nightmare. Every night, they see visions of a great city overrun with maddeningly unknowable machines and technology. This nightmare has been slowly eating away at their sanity, to the point where it's become a crisis. Now you, Dr. Muntz, have begun suffering from this nightmare. You have seen your patients slowly be driven insane by it, and you aren't about to give up easy. You're going to grab a gun, find the source of this damn nightmare, and put a bullet in its head. Because guns solve all of our problems!
This game was created using GB Studio, meaning it can be played on the Nintendo Game Boy (assuming you have the hardware, which I don't)! If you want to try it, you can download the rom file by clicking the link below. And if you do try it, please send me a video of the game being played, because I definitely want to see it.
Also, please consider donating and/or leaving your feedback, as either one gives me encouragement to continue making stuff like this (and hopefully eventually find a job).

That was fun. Good story. Just out of curiosity, though, is it possible to lose, or is the whole thing scripted? I never died, and I never used any of the pills I picked up. It was a fun experience either way.
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!
To answer your question, it is possible to die, but I might have made the game too easy
(not accounting for the secret fight that is literally impossible). If you do die, the game warps you back to your apartment, minus any items you used.I enjoyed playing this game -- the story was neat, and there was lots of great humour. Very cool! Looking forward to the audio track.
Very interesting game! I really liked the story you created and I was very intrigued to find out what would happen. Unfortunately, some of that spark died out in the very long combat sequences where you had to read through the same texts over and over as you tried to kill the enemies. The game has a lot of potential and can't wait to see what you come up with in the future :D
I don't know if you've heard of Game Development World Championship before (gdwc2019) but it's a competition for indie game developers where they can submit their games and it's free! It's great if you want some more visibility for the game and it only takes a couple of minutes to join :)
